Clean Makeup Faves
Over the years, I've slowly swapped out most of my makeup for cleaner options that are just as effective and better suited to my skin needs now that I'm approaching 40.
These are the products I wear most often, from foundation and concealer to brows, eyes and lips. They're made with cleaner ingredients without sacrificing pigment, wear or finish.
I prefer hydrating, buildable formulas over powders and heavier foundations, especially on more mature skin. The goal is for my skin to look fresh, healthy and glowing.
Westman Atelier Vital Skincare Concealer
My favorite concealer for covering blemishes and spots or brightening under the eyes. I wear shade L4. It’s creamy, hydrating and buildable, so you can add coverage where you need it while still keeping the skin looking really natural. The formula also has hyaluronic acid, peptides, licorice root and coffee extract to help hydrate, brighten and smooth the look of skin over time.
Westman Atelier is one of my favorite makeup brands because it combines cleaner ingredients with high-performance formulas that feel luxurious. I look for products without things like parabens, phthalates, PEGs, talc, mineral oil and synthetic fragrance when possible, and I love that Westman is thoughtful about what they leave out without sacrificing how the products perform.
Make Diffusion Dew Radiant Skin Tint
This has become my everyday liquid foundation for more mature skin that needs a little extra moisture. I wear Natural 02, a light-to-medium neutral shade. I still love my Westman Atelier Vital Skin Foundation Stick, but lately I've been reaching for this one.
It's lightweight, sheer and buildable, with just enough coverage to even everything out while blurring, smoothing and leaving a healthy, dewy finish without ever looking cakey. I also love that it's infused with niacinamide and adenosine to help brighten, smooth and support the skin over time.
Sarah Creal Just Like Paradise Bronzer
One of my favorite cream bronzers for a natural, sun-kissed glow. I wear Shade 2, a medium cool bronze that looks incredibly natural. It blends beautifully, wears for up to 12 hours and is formulated with peptides and plant extracts to help keep skin hydrated and smooth.
Sarah Creal's entire line is designed with women 40+ in mind, so the formulas are moisturizing, flattering on more mature skin and made to sit beautifully without settling into fine lines or pores. This bronzer has a sheer, buildable cream formula that melts into the skin and adds warmth and definition without looking heavy or overdone.
I alternate between this and my Westman Atelier blush stick. I have shade Archival, the prettiest cool mauve that’s perfect for everyday.
It’s a lightweight cream balm that melts into the skin and gives just enough color without ever looking heavy or cakey. The formula is sheer, buildable, and leaves the skin looking fresh and glowy. It’s fragrance-free, non-comedogenic and made with vitamin E to help condition the skin.
Westman Atelier Lit Up Highlight Stick
One of my favorite products for a dewy glow. It's a gel highlighter stick that melts into the skin and catches the light to perk up dull skin. I have shade Brulée, a glassy, translucent bronze gold. I swipe it on my cheekbones, bridge of my nose and brow bone for an instant glow. It's moisturizing, easy to blend and gives the prettiest glassy finish.
Victoria Beckham Beauty Satin Kajal Liner
One of the best eyeliners I've used. I wear shade Cocoa, a rich matte brown. It's super creamy and highly pigmented, so it glides on smoothly without tugging and blends easily before setting and staying put.
I use it along my lash line for soft definition or smoke it out for a more dramatic look. Once it sets, it has waterproof, all-day wear. The clean formula also includes panthenol, chamomile extract and vitamin E.
My eyes are naturally more deep-set with a heavier brow, and as I’ve gotten older, I’ve noticed more skin sitting over my lids. Eyeliner really helps define my eyes and make them stand out.
When I want a heavier eyeliner look, usually for evenings out or when I’m wearing more makeup, I’ll start with this liquid liner and then add the pencil liner above to smudge and soften it.
For liquid liner, I like a true jet black, and I wear shade Midnight Express. When I want a softer, more natural look, I skip this and just use the pencil liner above.
My everyday eyeshadow palette for an easy everyday eye or a more dramatic smoky look. I have the Violet Power Palette and it has a really wearable mix of neutral mattes and shimmers, so I can keep it soft and natural during the day or build up the deeper shades at night. The shadows are smooth, blend easily and give me plenty of options without needing multiple palettes.
The plant-powered formula is talc-free, vegan and cruelty-free and made without parabens, phthalates, sulfates, synthetic fragrance, dimethicone, PEGs or mineral oil. It also includes jojoba oil and grapeseed oil for a soft, velvety texture.
This has been my favorite mascara for years. I wear shade After Midnight, a true jet black. It gives me long, lifted, defined lashes without clumping, flaking or smudging.
The dual-sided brush separates every lash, and it stays put all day but still comes off easily with warm water. I also love the cleaner formula with biotin, arginine, and a lash-conditioning peptide to help nourish and condition lashes.
Westman Atelier Bonne Brow Defining Pencil
I love this brow pencil. Westman Atelier never disappoints, and they really got this one right. The thin, angled tip makes it easy to define brows and fill in sparse areas with tiny, hair-like strokes for a natural look. It comes in four different shades to match your hair color. I have Bark for my medium brown brows.
The formula has just the right amount of pigment, glides on smoothly and stays put. There’s also a hidden spoolie brush on the opposite end for grooming and blending.
Kosas Air Brow Clear Lifting Treatment Gel
This brow gel keeps everything in place without making my brows feel stiff or crunchy. I have clear but it's also available in tinted options.
It gives my brows just enough hold and definition while still looking natural. The clean formula also has castor oil, panthenol and a peptide to help condition and support healthier-looking brows.
Kulfi Lassi Lips Staining Long-Lasting Moisturizing Lip Oil
My pick when I want a glossy lip with a little more staying power. I wear shade Sweet, a cool dusty pink that’s easy for everyday.
It goes on like a hydrating lip oil with a glossy, high-shine finish, then leaves behind the prettiest soft stain as the gloss wears off. It’s moisturizing without feeling sticky and is made with mango seed oil, coconut oil, squalane + vitamin E to help keep lips soft and smooth.
This is one of my favorite everyday lip combos. I use the Peptide Lip Shape in Press, a pinky mauve that adds a little definition and makes my lips look fuller without feeling overdone.
I pair it with the Peptide Lip Tint in Salty Tan, which is probably my most-worn everyday gloss. It’s the prettiest soft mauve with a sheer, buildable tint and glossy finish. The formula is hydrating, smoothing and never sticky, with peptides, shea butter and other conditioning ingredients to help keep lips soft and moisturized.
